Dmitry Smirnov

Born in Izhevsk in 1974 in a family of engineers. The family always respected the art of the theater, and noticing the son’s dancing abilities, the boy was sent to school, where he was immediately accepted. An outstanding dancer of his generation Dmitry Smirnov graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography in 1993 with a degree in Sergey Sergeyevich Smirnov. His teachers were unique artists and craftsmen, People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky, People’s Artist of the RSFSR Galina Shlyapina, Honored Artist and Choreographer Alexander Vorotnikov.

After school he was immediately accepted into the troupe of Yuri Grigorovich “Studio Grigorovich” founded at the Bolshoi Theater. Since 2002, he danced the leading parties as a guest soloist in the theaters “Renaissance Ballet”, “Chamber Ballet Moscow” and many others. Thanks to the spectacular appearance of a born prince: high growth, beautiful lines, delicate facial features, pretty soon for yesterday’s graduate Dmitry began to get leading roles in ballets from his mentors. The most successful were the parts of the lyrical role, which completely and completely corresponds to the appearance and the main inner filling of the artist. Count Albert, Prince Desiree, The Nutcracker and many other parts were performed at the highest level. The touring activity of the artist does not affect only Antarctica, so great is the geography of success. Marked by the foreign press in Europe and America, Dmitry Smirnov, as a member of various ballet companies, repeatedly visited all the cultural points of the ballet world, and each time the stories of his characters resonated with the audience. Strengths of the dancer are strong rotation, soft jump, excellent partner qualities, artistry and stage charm. In the party of Prince Siegfried, the actor’s talent of the artist is most clearly manifested, his ability to develop the character from act to act, to demonstrate the dramatic side of the performance.

The artist’s repertoire includes “The Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Cinderella”, “Swan Lake”, “Giselle”, “Carmen Suite”, “La Bayadere”, “Coppelia”, as well as a wide range of duets and solo variations and specially staged rooms for divertissement performances.
